Bill Russell’s Narrative Art Class
The design and content for the Narrative Art: Your Story, Your Art is still being developed. Stay tuned!
About the Class:
Bill’s intention is to teach and inspire you to tell stories in your art, in whatever art medium you work in. Bill will show and tell a history of narrative art, that are integrated into some fun writing and drawing exercises that will steer you to creating your own narrative art.
You’ll need some basic drawing skills since you’ll do some visualizing and conceptualizing in class. Give some thought to what stories you’d like to share and make art about. It could be a childhood memory, a funny story about your pet, or an interesting experience you had on a vacation. It’s totally up to you.
You have your own unique artistic inclinations. I want to honor that and the way you make your art, as well as the art mediums you prefer. While you won’t be making finished art in class, you’ll be given an assignment that you’ll share for the second class.
What to bring:
Bill will provide all the materials that you’ll need for the first class, but bring a notebook or sketchbook to write some notes/thoughts/stories in. As I mentioned above, if you have a first story in mind, you may want to bring some reference material (like a family photo, etc.).
